little-jack-huggos-egi
Little Jack Huggos - Egi

75mm - 14g

95mm - 22g

This product was developed with a clear concept: to strongly trigger a squid’s predatory instinct through S-shaped and S-slide actions that mimic the frantic escape of a baitfish—movements that traditional egi actions often fail to provoke. With a steady retrieve, it produces a stable S-shaped swimming action. Add rod work, and it transitions into a sharp S-slide. By combining slow jerks and controlled falls, it faithfully recreates the behavior of weakened bait, fleeing fish, or cautious prey maintaining distance.
A straight retrieve, subtle twitches, changes in rod angle—
thanks to its highly responsive design, even the slightest input is directly translated into underwater action. This allows anglers to switch between multiple presentations with a single lure, adapting precisely to conditions and squid activity levels.

For squid conditioned to standard egi movements, this lure offers an alternative answer: fish-based action.
The more techniques you master, the greater the difference in results. This is an aggressive tool that delivers both operational enjoyment and solid catches.

The body features a half fabric-wrapped structure, designed not only for visual realism but also to eliminate discomfort at the moment of the grab. The short body and fabric-covered back enhance the entire sequence—from extending the tentacles, to holding, to secure hooking—allowing squid to hold on longer and commit fully.

The form precisely replicates a horse mackerel, a staple in a squid’s natural diet. Body depth, silhouette, surface geometry, and reflective balance are meticulously engineered to appear “real” from every angle. This realism is not just aesthetic—it is tuned for true on-the-water performance.

By attaching the included keel blade, the lure gains more than just flashing appeal. The blade firmly grips the water and acts as a keel, moderating rod input and completely transforming the action. The result is a crisp, well-defined darting motion that can be produced through lure-style rod-tip control.

Unlike egi fishing, large, sweeping jerks using the entire rod are unnecessary.
Sharp, compact tip movements alone make the lure instantly dart left and right, allowing precise direction changes with minimal input. This makes it possible to trigger squid in tight spots or switch them on right in their field of view.

For hooking performance—the decisive final element—the lure is equipped with BKK hooks, renowned for their exceptional sharpness. With outstanding penetration, they set firmly even under minimal tension at the moment of the grab, and once hooked, they hold with confidence.

This is not an extension of egi fishing, but a shift toward lure-oriented squid fishing.
When squid won’t respond to egi, when only fish-shaped bait works—this is the solution.
A powerful new option that expands your eging arsenal. Take it to the field and experience the difference.
